About My Clients
I love working with all age groups and I feel everyone has a story to tell of the experiences they carry within them. I work with those who are going through challenges in their life that have caused them to feel as if they can no longer carry the load on their own. It can be overwhelming, isolating, and painful to feel as if you are in this alone, but the truth is you are not alone. Through genuine connection, hope can begin to take root.
My Background and Approach
I work from a person-centered lens which means we work together side by side to build a connection as therapist and clinician. The focus is on making sure the client feels like a person and not like a patient. I also work from a strength-based approach as in I look for the 'super powers' or the resiliency a client holds within them that shows them a different side of themselves that they can value. Lastly, I also utilize the relational lens which sheds a light on how we all relate to others and whether or not we feel those relationships are satisfying our need for healthy connections as human beings. We'll work collaboratively as we explore the ins and outs of your narrative at your pace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a proud African American woman from the South Side of Chicago who has dreamed about helping people no matter their race, age, gender, or socioeconomic status! I love to meet people, hear their stories and hopefully in time, help them with their goals to the best of my abilities. I believe in empathy and placing yourself in someone else's shoes and never questioning the power of hope and gratitude. I support programs that look to advocate for our homeless population in the city and my church and I support women and family shelters around the city as well. At the end of the day, even the oddest, scariest, most misunderstood person is a person with a story.
