About My Clients
During therapy we will focus on empowering you to cope with life’s challenges. Maybe you want to believe that your future is full of hope but you don’t yet. Maybe you’re feeling stuck. Maybe you have a specific problem you want to brainstorm. Or you’re having relationship difficulties, grieving a loss, or wrestling with trauma. Working together, we will tap into your resilience and natural strengths, develop skills for overcoming challenges, and empower you to create the future you hope for.
My Background and Approach
I'm a therapist with 10+ years of experience and am currently licensed in California, Colorado, and North Carolina. During the first 9 years of my career I worked within the Los Angeles juvenile justice system, serving youth and their families as they tackled issues ranging from PTSD, anxiety, depression, anger management, substance abuse, gang violence, police violence and systemic racism. Today I provide therapy via telehealth in my private practice, and I specialize in solution-focused and trauma-informed care, often using cognitive-behavioral strategies. This means that during therapy, much of what we'll talk through will include identifying the relationships between the way you think, the way you feel, and the way you act. Learning to identify and address thinking patterns, to express emotions, and to develop adaptive behaviors are each helpful in coping with the issues that bring you to therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, I have the privilege of collaborating with clients to create the futures they long for. I believe that you have within you what you need to overcome life’s challenges and that therapy can be a means to activating those natural strengths. The mission of my practice is to provide person centered, strength based, and solution focused care as you process your past, embrace your present, and step into what’s next for your life. I also believe that connection between therapist and client is essential to doing meaningful work. To break the ice: I'm a hip hop head, an aspiring baker, a National Parks enthusiast, and a fan of both University of Illinois and Duke basketball programs.
