Licensed Professional Counselor in West Hartford, CT
I have extensive training in Marriage and Family Counseling and Therapy in graduate professional programs at Boston University School of Theology, Boston Family Institute, Hartford Family Institute, and Antioch/New England Graduate School and have practiced as a professional Marriage and Family Counselor in Connecticut since 1974.
I earned my masters degree at Boston University School of Theology (1969-1973) in the department of Psychology of Religion and Pastoral Counseling, and I view my counseling vocation and relationships as pastoral in nature. Because of my background in pastoral counseling I am uniquely qualified to focus on spirituality and very experienced in working with people within the contexts of their own cultural and religious faith systems, beliefs, values and norms.
While counseling and psychotherapy can be effective tools in the treatment of “mental illness” these same tools can also be employed to support and encourage healthy optimal growth, development, and well-being. I draw upon my extensive graduate studies in psychosocial development and the behavioral and cognitive sciences and five decades of professional training and experience in many forms of counseling and therapy to support the normal growth processes in the lives of my clients.
