From Good Therapy: "This type of therapy diverged from the traditional model of the therapist as expert and moved instead toward a nondirective, empathic approach that empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process. The therapy is based on Rogers’s belief that every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfill his or her own potential." This form of talk therapy is used more often than not and allows the client to express themselves openly and without judgment.
I've had a lot of clients who claimed they could not be hypnotized, but each one who came out of the session felt better and more relaxed. If nothing else, relaxation and time away from your problems can help you refocus and gain better understanding of how to overcome problems. Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses relaxation, extreme concentration (you're not even aware of it), and intense attention to achieve a heightened state of consciousness or mindfulness.
In a nutshell, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common type of talk therapy where you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. Basically, you learn how to challenge malformed or negative thoughts so they no longer bother you. I used this therapy myself and know it to be very effective.
I laughed hysterically the first time I experienced the full effects of EMDR because I could not believe it worked so well on me, but it did! Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.

From racing thoughts to nervous ticks, anxiety can play havoc on the body and mental health, but it doesn't have to be so debilitating. You can learn to live with anxiety and even learn how to reduce and live without anxiety altogether. If anxiety rears its head, I can help you learn to cope and better understand how to move through it rather than avoid it.
Having walked through many faith traditions, I have a greater understanding of how our spirituality (or sense of community for those who do not believe in a higher power) can affect our well-being. As an ordained independent catholic (small "c" is intentional) priest, I know what it is to exist on the fringe and how to overcome stereotype and ridicule.
Abuse, and all forms of trauma, can interfere with not only daily functioning, but also with our physical bodies. Often our bodies will be the first to let us know that something is desperately wrong. I believe in a comprehensive approach where we examine physical factors, as well as emotional/mental factors to help a person overcome the trauma of abuse. I am also certified in EMDR to help process out the trauma from memories.
