Attachment theory has been a very useful tool in describing the interactions in all relationships, especially those that involve behavioral difficulties between parents and children. Having worked in children's mental health for over 11 years, Attachment Theory has been the main foundation for my work during this time.
I make use of experiential techniques often during my meetings to invite processing of emotions, feelings, thoughts, and narratives, especially those that occur between myself and the participant(s). My study and research of experiential techniques have led me to incorporate these practices with my narrative framework to spur awareness and recognition within participants.
I encounter most concepts in life through a narrative lens and this has informed my work and study. I have pursued various opportunities to work under and research various Narrative Therapy practitioners and techniques. It is a goal of mine to continue to do this moving forward.
I have had over 11 years of experience in various roles working with adolescents. During the course of my experience I have aided many pre-teens, teens, and college aged people with various struggles such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts / acts, family conflict, abuse, eating disorders, identity formation, sexual identity formation, school stress, violent outbursts, and many more. I have also engaged in trainings and workshops surrounding these struggles for adolescents.
I often find that the people who come to therapy are experiencing a transition or are attempting to cope with a recent transition. Whether it be the birth of a child, moving, a new job or loss of a job, death of a loved one, divorce, or loss of relationship, these are often struggles that are present in the lives of people I see.
Over the course of my 11 years in the mental health field, I have often worked with people struggling in various stages of depression. While I have also attended trainings focusing on depression, this experience has helped me develop a caring and positive mentality while working with people who are working through various issues that invite depression.
