About My Clients
My clients are individuals navigating life’s toughest transitions—whether it's trauma, grief, motherhood, or personal growth. They come seeking a safe, non-judgmental space to process emotions, develop coping strategies, and find empowerment. Many are looking for guidance after feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unheard. Whether you're healing from the past, managing stress, or simply needing a place to be understood, I’m here to walk beside you on your journey of growth and healing.
My Background and Approach
I’m Kennedy McGurkin, a therapist who believes that healing is a deeply personal journey, and no one should have to go through it alone. With a focus on trauma recovery, perinatal mental health, grief, and women's issues, I’m passionate about helping women reclaim their strength, peace, and sense of self. My background includes working with survivors of domestic violence, individuals navigating life changes like pregnancy and postpartum transitions, and those processing complex grief. Throughout my years of practice, I’ve seen the power of a compassionate, understanding space in helping clients feel truly heard and supported. I use an eclectic, client-centered approach to therapy, combining different therapeutic techniques such as trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to find what works best for you. My goal is always to meet you where you are, providing the tools, guidance, and empathy needed to help you move forward at your own pace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, I believe in creating a space where everyone is accepted and celebrated for who they truly are. I’m deeply committed to supporting all individuals, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or relationship style. I proudly stand with the LGBTQIA+ community, Black Lives Matter, and the kink community. I support polyamory and non-traditional relationships, understanding that love and connection look different for everyone. My work is rooted in creating a safe, inclusive space where your identity is respected, and you can show up authentically without fear of judgment. I believe that every person deserves access to therapy that honors their lived experiences and empowers them to live their truth. My approach is one of respect, openness, and compassion for all who come through my door.
