About My Clients
I often work with women who have been up against challenges in their lives, want extra support, and deeply desire change. Many women, especially those who have been subject to abuse, rape or violence, can experience guilt, blame, anxiety, anger, depression, and judgment from others. Together, we can untangle these experiences, helping you reclaim your agency, reconnect with your voice, and step into a life where abuse is not present.
My Background and Approach
Therapy with me is centered on collaboration and trust, focusing on what matters most to you. You hold a lot... responsibilities, expectations, emotions. You may be carrying roles or stories that were never fully yours to begin with. In our work together, we’ll gently explore the stories that have shaped your experiences, both from within and from the world around you. We’ll make space for your values, your voice, and your vision for the life you want to live. This is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out yet, but seek clarity and change in your life. In our sessions together, I take a collaborative, non-diagnostic approach. We'll explore the challenges you're facing together, finding ways forward that reflect your hopes, intentions and values. After each session, I write a therapeutic letter containing notes from our session and follow up questions for you to think about between sessions. Clients often find these letters personally meaningful.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work from a narrative, collaborative and feminist lens. Feminist therapy is not exclusively about supporting women, but looking at power and other marginalized groups as well. I also work from a social justice lens, attentive to differences in power and how problems are socially constructed. This helps reduce blame for problems that were never ours in the first place, but are potentially the result of capitalism, the patriarchy and other oppressive institutions that privilege a select few, over others. I am in active collaboration with women's shelters in Oceanside to Long Beach, and give pro-bono sessions, workshops, and educational presentations in collaboration with these shelters (i.e. WRC Oceanside and Su Casa). A large part of my work is looking at problems in the broader sociocultural context, therefore I am often connecting my clients to resources that will ease problems in their lives.
