About My Clients
Doesn’t it sound nice to be able to share your thoughts with someone who isn’t directly involved with the issue(s) at hand or someone who isn’t going to sit there and pass judgement. Through both my personal experiences or the experiences of those closest to me, I have learned a great deal about depression, anxiety, chronic illness/pain, family dynamics and addiction. These are the clients I feel I can connect, empathize, and understand best.
My Background and Approach
I believe that building a strong rapport between therapist and client is an important step in successful outcomes. You are the expert on your own life and my goal is to meet you where you are at and provide you with an individualized treatment approach based on your needs. My desire is to help you achieve your goals by providing a safe, authentic, and compassionate clinical setting. I look forward to working with you! My prior work has been with adults & teens experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviors, drug and alcohol abuse, emotional and physical abuse, trauma, family conflict, and symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness. I have worked in a variety of settings such as community mental health centers, nonprofits and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have used my firsthand experiences in my training and work to better understand the human behavior and psyche behind some of these challenging mental health issues. I recognize how validating it is for someone to see you in all your suffering. I’m here to provide a strong ear, help you better understand your thoughts and feelings and learn how to manage them in a more productive way. I am a lover of nature, animals and spending time with family. I have a horse named Blue (because he has two blue eyes) and a Great Pyrenees named Wrigley (yes, my husband is a cubs fan, I am not). I have volunteered at animal shelters and an online suicide prevention hotline. You will often find me outdoors with my animals, listening to a new audiobook or experimenting in the kitchen to find delicious new recipes to fit my dietary restrictions. Have you ever tried baking with gluten free flour? I look forward to learning more about you as an individual, not just the things you are struggling with.
