About My Clients
Are you struggling with an eating disorder? Does your eating disorder protect you from difficult emotions, memories, or weight stigma? Are you looking to focus on identity development (emerging adulthood, LGBTQIA+, relationship roles), or explore relationship patterns? My ultimate goal is to provide a corrective experience in an affirming environment by building a collaborative therapeutic relationship. I hope to join you on the path towards long lasting recovery.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist, I believe a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship is the basis for creating meaningful changes in life. My approach is person-centered, relational, and emotion-focused, while drawing from psychodynamic, feminist, acceptance and commitment, and cognitive-behavioral therapies. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and I practice cultural humility and focus on intersectionality as they are ethically imperative. My goal is to create a safe and affirming environment for my clients to be vulnerable and take risks in our work together. We'll explore patterns, identify functions to these patterns, explore emotions, gain insight, and build tools to create change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a feminist, anti capitalist, pro-choice person working towards cultural humility every day. I bring this into my work as a therapist and encourage discussion about social justice, exploring internalized biases, and how our shared or different identities between us interact in our therapeutic relationship.
