About My Clients

I work with diverse and unique individuals and families who may have a history of unhealthy communication patterns, scary or traumatic events, major life transitions, behavioral issues, and family conflict. Depending on the need, I can work with one family member or multiple at a time. My passion is to help families end negative or unhealthy cycles, restoring family harmony in a way that will be sustainable across future generations.

My Background and Approach

I have experience working intensely with children, adolescents, and families with significant behavioral and mental health struggles which have lead to removal or risk of removal of the child from the home. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, goal-oriented, and focused on skill-building to create sustainable progress. I'm licensed in North Carolina as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and have been a member of the American Counseling Association since 2015. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Neuropsychotherapy. Additionally, I use techniques from many evidence-based models such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Community Advocacy Project (CAP), Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA), and more based on the needs of the client.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Through my personal and professional experience, I have been fortunate to bear witness to the incredible capacity individuals and families have to change. It's my belief that the client is, and should always remain, in the driver's seat of their own progress. You are the change agent in your life. No matter what life outside of session is like, I want to create a calm and safe space for you to be able to think and process clearly. I am an LGBTQ ally, and fully support the Black Lives Matter movement. As such, I recognize the necessity to keep learning from others. I am a work in progress, as we all are, and do not hesitate to ask questions rather than make assumptions as well as continuously educate myself.
