About My Clients
Do you feel like there is a huge hole in your heart? Did you recently lose someone who was close to you and have an ache in your soul that people around you don't seem to understand? Did you experience a major life change that has caused you to feel unbalanced in your life? I see you. I felt that way too after I lost my father to cancer in 2019. That's why I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel; that hope is right around the corner. Please, let me help you get there.
My Background and Approach
After experiencing the loss of my father to cancer in 2019, I was inspired to become a Certified Grief Counselor. After starting my own grieving journey, I realized that most people don't know how to truly comfort and support a grieving person. I felt lonely and unseen through a lot of my personal healing and I would love to help you through yours. I use multiple therapy modalities to assist with helping clients work through their grief. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and creative arts therapy techniques to name a few. What does that look like? I like to assist clients with exploring their self-narratives and challenging unhelpful thinking. I like to help clients with creating an alternative narrative in their life that is more helpful for them. I assist clients with targeting specific goals to help provide increased motivation and drive towards success; and I love helping clients explore themselves in a new way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have identified as a Christian my whole life and have been actively involved in a church setting. That being said, I do understand that many people have experienced spiritual/religious trauma due to rejection and hatred directed towards them due to differing beliefs, values, and identities. I have had close friends and family experience this. If you are not comfortable with faith/spiritual themes during our counseling relationship, I am able to put those aside to work with you in a more secular framework. I believe that every human being has immense value and should be cherished and loved, no matter who they are.
