About My Clients
I have experience working in child welfare, community mental health, outpatient, and intensive outpatient settings. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. I am 2SLGBTQIA affirming, sex positive, and kink-affirming. My clinical focuses include trauma, shame, substance use disorders, eating disorders, couples therapy, as well as perinatal and reproductive mental health.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a strengths-based model, allowing care that fosters resiliency that I believe is inherent to all of us. Ultimately, I seek to promote confidence and allow clients to bear witness to their own value. I offer positive and genuine regard, and encourage all of my clients to feel safe to work through issues honestly. I incorporate attachment-based interventions because I believe it can be important to explore early relationships and how these influences shape relationships as adults. I believe this can be pivotal to addressing limitations in our life--from ways we communicate to patterns in relationships. I collaborate with clients to find the most practical strategies that work for my clients, as unique individuals. I am trained in a harm-reduction, and take this approach with substance use disorders as I believe in meeting clients where they are at. Patience is vital in the therapeutic space with me, as it allows healing to move at an authentic pace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that honesty is the foundation of a trusting relationship and has the power to expand the possibilities for connection between two people. When I share space with clients, I like to incorporate humor as a means of deepening the therapeutic bond and as a way to establish a sense of security within the relationship. I provide a non-judgmental space, where individuals can feel valued and understood. I treat every client with respect because I feel that it is necessary to building trust and safety within the therapeutic relationship. I am committed to social justice, destigmatizing mental health, and developing relationships with clients.
