About My Clients
The varied work experience in my career has given me the opportunity to work in several different environments and populations throughout the lifespan, including children, teens, young adults, mid- life and older adults for 8 years. My approach is relational. I have worked in trauma therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy, person centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and many other therapeutic avenues.
My Background and Approach
If you are struggling with life transitions and stress, hopelessness, confusion, sadness, or depression, anxiety, social functioning, behavioral changes, low self-worth, lack of confidence, trauma, grief and loss, if you or a loved one struggles with addiction, these are a few of the circumstances of which I have worked alongside. My background includes work-space counseling, nature therapy, family therapy, Teen therapy, and an in-patient addiction facility. I graduated from the Texas State University Masters of Social Work Program. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. This is a difficult journey. My strong sense of empathy allows me to gain a deep affinity with what the individual may be feeling in the moment. Past clients have reported a genuine connection, in which they know their feelings are legitimate. Through gentle inquiry, I am able to assist you in bringing to light those issues that may be having an impact on your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is not uncommon for people to wonder how my spiritual practices may affect my treatment approach. I consider my spiritual life to be a journey. I have been on many different spiritual paths along the way. This helps me understand people coming from various perspectives. I have found value in every path I have traveled. One of the things I have gained from my experience is the ability to see the strength in each person. I believe within everyone is the ability to know themselves deeply and find the best directions for their lives. My job is to help you unlock the answers you already have within you and put the answers into practice. There are times when we all need to dig down to some underlying thoughts, feelings and issues that may be playing a part in your distress. My goal in therapy is not to tell you as a client what you need, but to discover together what your deepest needs are.
