Simply put, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT for short), is the practice of understanding how thoughts influence behaviors. In the process of examining your thoughts, we'll work on identifying what thoughts are helpful vs not helpful, and how to manage each category in ways which feel more manageable. I have been combining traditional CBT with DBT since 2012 in my practice, and have found clients achieve more success, and faster, with this approach.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, or DBT for short, is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy. The main goals of DBT are to teach people how to live in the moment, cope in healthy ways with stress, manage emotions productively, and have healthy relationships. I've been using DBT in my practice since 2012, and have found in combination with traditional CBT, it becomes even more effective in supporting clients in the process of change.

Trauma is the literal and figurative removal of power and autonomy. Our job, working as a team, is to return that power and autonomy to you, the rightful owner. Through the process of unpacking your story of trauma, we will explore the what, how, and why of the impact of the trauma experience you've had. By taking control of the narrative, we will remove the hold trauma has over your behaviors, by teaching you how to control your thoughts and behaviors again.

Anxiety is something that can seem like it pops up out of nowhere - coming on suddenly, leaving you feeling like you're electrified all the time, and just wanting relief. By learning about what causes it and building an understanding of the relationship your body has with the people, places, and things you're surrounded by, it becomes far easier to manage your experience of anxiety, leaving you equipped to live a life of peace.

Depression - the insidious, black hole that develops when you're not even looking. Maybe you've been able to manage it so far, but it's exhausting you, leaving you feeling like there's a thousand pounds weighing your body down. Together, we'll work on just taking one step forward at a time, rebuilding your healthy habits little by little, to the point of getting you back to where you want to be.

Trauma changes us. It does this shady power grab, stealing something that never belonged to it in the first place. It creates a story, and forces it on you, demanding you believe it. I'm here to tell you - you can rewrite that story. I specialize in treating PTSD both in civilians and EMS personnel, and I've borne witness to hundreds of people rewriting their stories, reclaiming their power, and going on to live incredible lives.
