About My Clients
I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, obsessions/compulsions, body image distress, eating disorders, chronic pain/health conditions, fertility issues, grief/loss, military life stressors, and senior life transitions. In addition, I enjoy working with couples and families struggling with minor miscommunications and disagreements to serious violations of trust.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to create a safe space for clients to express themselves. I prioritize building a nonjudgmental, supportive relationship based in trust and validation. I understand that sometimes you have to reflect on the past to heal in the present. I utilize an eclectic approach that includes CBT, DBT skills training, family systems therapy, solution focused therapy, and internal family systems, and more. I tailor my approach to the needs of my client, as I understand therapy is not one size fits all. I consider it an honor to be invited on your journey, as we clarify your goals and create a plan to achieve them. You can expect to be truly heard and validated throughout the process. You'll be treated with respect and value, while being encouraged, and sometimes challenged, to reach your fullest potential. I also think it can be valuable to find a way to laugh here and there along the way. My goal is to offer support and guidance, so that you feel empowered to live the life you deserve.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Despite what social media likes to portray, no one has the perfect life. Challenges strike us all, regardless of age, gender, socioeconomic level, and more. When in the depths of our own struggles, it may seem like we are alone, but we aren't. I believe we all possess resilience within us, and if given the support and guidance, we can grow through our challenges. Whether our challenges began with unmet needs during childhood or not until later in life, it is possible to heal. I also firmly believe that mental health is intertwined with physical health. Healing in one area allows for healing in the other. My roles as therapist and personal trainer have strengthened my belief in the value of a holistic view of healing. My own medical challenges over recent years opened my eyes to the struggles of those with chronic conditions, and these personal experiences provided deeper understanding for my clients. Learning to accept help can be an integral part of our healing journey.
