About My Clients
I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults. I have particular interest and experience with working with trans and nonbinary youth. I work with clients around a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, PTSD/trauma, and difficult life transitions.
My Background and Approach
My counseling style is warm, direct, and collaborative, and I bring an empathetic, reflective, and non-judgmental stance to my sessions. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and strength-based approaches in my work with clients. Before working in private practice, I worked as a school-based therapist with high-school and college students. I am also an experienced public health practitioner and researcher. My public health work has focused on health equity, adolescent health, LGBTQ+ health, infectious disease prevention, and sexual and reproductive health, both domestically and globally. My current research examines mental health and resilience among trans and non-binary adolescents. I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, a Doctorate in Public Health from UC Berkeley, and a Master’s in Public Health from John Hopkins School of Public Health.
