I help those struggling to maintain balance under the yoke of depression and better function with anxiety symptoms. A light in the darkness.
Counselor in Houston, TX
I often use mindfulness techniques in treating both depression and anxiety. Through mindfulness each client learns to pay attention to their body and the somatic reactions of their emotions to both thoughts and behaviors. Many of the coping skills taught to help manage both anxiety and depression use mindfulness as a base.
This is my main focus in therapy and often my most used modality. I work with each client to determine their goals for therapy, then correct any errors in thinking that have led to incorrect behaviors. I emphasize the importance of how thoughts and emotions alike control behavior and to change behavior we have to go in and change the thought process that led to that behavior.
I have extensive experience offering anger management therapy to a variety of different individuals through individual therapy. I've worked with both adults and teenagers in the juvenile justice system on their anger.
I have experience working with both adults and teenagers dealing with depression. Through analysis of current lift patterns, previous/current trauma, and expectations together we come up with several coping skills to help manage the numerous depressive symptoms and make depression if not better at least less debilitating.
I have experience working with individuals on developing coping skills for anxiety, getting to the root of the anxiety, and the different somatic responses of that anxiety. I work with both adults and teenagers to help manage anxiety symptoms ranging from the severe to the moderate range.
I have experience working with individuals on anger management. I begin with a deep assessment of: anger triggers, anger response, personal relationship with anger through history of experiences. Then I move toward changing thought patterns related to anger and finally implementing new coping skills to help manage anger.
