About My Clients
I strive to help individuals through this and work towards managing their emotions. Client goals and needs are subjective and we will work together to identify them in our sessions. I would like my clients to be motivated to a lifestyle change that works for them and I want to help them do this. My hope is to help clients initiate change and growth so they can carry those tools into their future obstacles. I work with children 7+, adolescents, and adults with a variety of presenting issues.
My Background and Approach
I consider my approach to be eclectic, taking from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered and Solution Focused Brief therapies. More importantly than specific theories, I truly aim at tailoring each client's experience with where they are at, and what they may need. I have experience working in multiple settings including community agencies, private practice, and an Employee Assistance Program. During my graduate studies, I interned at Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area. At FSA, I gained experience working with youth, adolescents, and adults with a variety of presenting problems. I also co-lead groups for adolescents and worked with the SASS team on crisis response. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Saint Ambrose University and a Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Governors State University. I currently am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer in clients feeling heard, not judged, and safe to be open and honest in my sessions. I accept any race, gender, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs.
