About My Clients

My entire practice is geared towards meeting the needs of today's woman. From the challenges of adolescence to the shock of having an empty nest and everything in between. I believe that the struggles that occur across a woman's lifespan deserve special attention and an approach that specifically meets her needs. This is especially true for women of color who experience a unique stress associated with being a member of an ethnic minority group in the United States.

My Background and Approach

As an experienced health psychologist, I strive to increase my clients’ awareness of the mind’s power over the body and the body’s unique ability to calibrate itself to the mind’s needs - also known as the mind-body connection. I specialize in depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, the treatment of eating disorders (ARFID, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, and Binge-Eating Disorder), and negative body image. I also help women of color navigate the unique challenges that accompany being an ethnic minority in the United States. I use several therapeutic modalities to help my clients reach their goals. They include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. As the former primary therapist in the outpatient clinic for feeding and eating disorders at UCLA, and its founding psychologist, I am well-versed in using CBT-e and Family-Based Treatment (FBT), two specific approaches for treating eating disorders.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that every woman has the potential and power to be a positive force of change in her personal life, workplace, and community. Helping women achieve this potential and power is my passion. By building a safe space for vulnerability, openness, and healing, I seek to empower my clients to cultivate compassion for themselves and others while overcoming life’s challenges. My clients appreciate my sharp memory for detail, boundless hope, and warm and respectful nature. Naturally giving, spiritually attuned, and an engaged listener, I am committed to understanding my clients’ goals and providing pathways for growth.
