About My Clients

My current work focuses on challenges with anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and cultural issues. More specifically, I focus on themes related to self doubt, internal conflict, emotional distress and interpersonal boundaries. Overall, clients that seem to benefit the most from my approach are having trouble initiating the change necessary to align their internal experience with their external one. In other words, the way they are living conflicts with how they want their lives to be.

My Background and Approach

My training and background consist of these primary areas of focus: 1.) Psychodynamic therapy with additional post graduate training at the Hawaii Institute for Depth Psychology and the Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies 2.) Emotionally Focused Therapy with direct supervision and training 3.) Body-Oriented Therapy, Mindfulness and Health Psychology where training focused on supplementing medical treatment with individual Therapy. It was typically short term in nature with an emphasis on mind-body integration 4.) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with an emphasis on exposure and response prevention. I view therapy very much like creating a piece of art with clients. Sometimes it requires making hard lines and dark shades while other times there is a flow and softness to the form - there are constant adjustments and it is always evolving. Therapy is a delicate process and I do my best to balance the needs of each individual client with my own experience and understanding.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that we cannot control what we do not know. I believe that in order to move on from something we have to accept it first. I believe change can happen spontaneously without force when one learns more about themselves. I believe that the greatest gift I can provide as a therapist is to help clients connect with their true selves. I am still continuing to grow and learn as both a therapist and a person. I am grateful to have a career that allows me to share my passion for understanding the human experience with others. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. As I sit here writing I can't help but feel a sense of excitement that you are opening up to the potential of pursuing therapy. There is nothing like taking the time to spend an hour working with someone else who is dedicated to the pursuit of your own self understanding. Best of luck on your continued journey and hope to speak with you soon.
