About My Clients
I provide online teletherapy for individual adults from all backgrounds. I have always felt honored to be able to work with someone who has the awareness and willingness to face their challenges . It is my intention to use my experience, education, training and skills to help clients find their path toward improvement, decrease their suffering and cultivate feelings of being well.
My Background and Approach
I received my MA in Counseling Psychology in 2006 and have been a licensed professional counselor ever since. I completed my graduate thesis in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) with a special interest in mindfulness. In my work I stress that it takes practice to gain mastery of the skills and intentions that lead to the reduction of stress in life. I have also had significant amounts of training in Motivational Interviewing to engage in the process of change. I strive to help people meet their goals by examining the connection between how they think, feel, act and interact with their surroundings. Change is inevitable but doesn’t have to be self-destructive. By finding the mindfulness skills that resonate with us, by learning how to structure our thinking, how to practice regulating our emotions, how to reduce stress, and nurturing our interpersonal relationships we can better ourselves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my personal life, I am great lover of nature. I enjoy hiking in the woods, taking long walks wherever I may be while taking in all of the natural world that surrounds me. Music is also an important part of my own well being and I play piano and guitar to relax and focus within. For years I have worked with my hands making food, working with wood, building things, and engaging my mind in efforts that have meaningful results. I honor the uniqueness of each individual but I do believe that we all have something common inside of us that can bring us peace and joy. It is my hope in my work with others we can explore and integrate these “somethings” to add meaning and fulfillment to our life in a meaningful and healthy way.
