About My Clients
I specialise in domestic abuse, sexual trauma, Post-traumatic stress, grief, stress management, adjustment issues, relationship issues, anxiety and depression.
My Background and Approach
My overall approach to therapy is Person-Centered in order to build the rapport and maintain a judgement free environment. I use Trauma- focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and narrative therapy. I also incorporate creative activities into my sessions including mindfulness and artful coping. I am constantly learning to use new techniques that work for each client. Although you as my client will have the full ability to decide the structure of our session I can give you an example of how I usually direct - I like to start my session with a mindfulness activity to bring awareness into the present moment, move into addressing immediate needs, process a situation, talk through thoughts, feelings and reactions and end my session with a progressive muscle relaxation technique. I encourage keeping a therapy journal, store worksheets, assess and rate your reactions to a situation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Clients often feel anxious or guilty when they choose to seek therapy. I will work on exploring those feelings and reassure you. You may feel uncomfortable and vulnerable to talk about your thoughts and patterns, but it will help you self-reflect. I will prioritize your feelings and process things at your pace.
