About My Clients
My ideal client is someone who is willing and wanting to put in the hard work to feel and be better. I have worked with new patients that googled "Do I need therapy?" to folks who have been in therapy for years and took a break and are ready to work on the next thing they feel like is keeping them from being their best self. Therapy is hard and messy, but if you are ready to take that next step (even if it is a small one), you are likely my ideal client!
My Background and Approach
I have worked focusing on trauma, grief, and anxiety and depression for so long that I feel like I should carry around a feelings wheel and a box of tissues in my cardigans. My main approach is to ask what has and has not worked and then figure out why. I am a strong believer in you being the expert on your own life, so I am going to ask and we will have setbacks, and meet resistance, but we will also succeed as long as we can have honesty, openness, and work through the discomfort. My goal is to create a space that allows you to be your authentic self and work through the parts that you feel like need growth and for you to know that I will be there with you. I know it might be unorthodox but I enjoy asking for memes and reels that my patients connect to, I love getting to know and understanding my clients better through accessible and real life ways.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are far more capable than we believe, that we are more than the sum of our parts. I believe and fight for equity, equality, and the dismantling of systems of oppression. I believe that in order for therapy to be effective it is necessary to view it from an intersectional lens and help treat and understand the person as a whole. I believe BIPOC and trans folks are the foundation of some of the best things to ever come from our country, that no person is illegal on stolen land, and that affordable healthcare and housing is a basic human right (what a thing to need to say!). I also believe that as a person who has significant privilege it is my job to fight for those with less and am always happy to learn about what that might look like and how I can improve to be an ally to marginalized groups I am not apart of. If any of these things resonate with you, feel free to reach out :) Languages spoken: English and Spanish
