About My Clients
There is no universal blueprint for making it through life unscathed. Life gets hard and sometimes it can feel like your entire world is spinning out of control. Feelings of pain, suffering, heartache, and disconnection come woven within wounded relationships, addiction, and life transitions. A sense of emptiness and lack of identity tends to ebb and flow as we move through seasons of our existence. But you are hardwired to survive and when given the appropriate tools, you can actually thrive!
My Background and Approach
I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Missouri State University prior to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have a history of working in foster and adoption services, generational poverty reduction programs, addiction treatment and recovery, integrated healthcare, and with Neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities as a social worker and therapist. I have a client-centered, strengths-based, relational, and trauma-informed attitude towards therapy. I utilize a highly individualized and eclectic approach to treatment that includes the following types of therapy: Acceptance and Commitment, Narrative, Attachment-Based, Mindfulness-Based, Emotionally Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and EMDR. Much of my work with clients is guided by Holistic, Existential, and Humanistic philosophies and has strong Gestalt and Jungian influences. I believe the path to healing and embodying one's fullness and authentic self requires mind + body + soul integration.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves to find freedom and wholeness in who they are regardless of life's circumstances. If you are here on this planet, you have inherent worth, dignity, and purpose. You're uniqueness deserves to be embraced and celebrated! As your fellow human + therapist, I make an effort to live a values-aligned and fulfilled life while occasionally getting slapped in the face with reality, responsibility, and my own healing. My Spotify wrapped is full of indie rock, singer-song writer, and nursery rhyme tunes (thanks to my toddler). I will travel just about any chance I get. And as someone who's been called a free spirit a time or two, I understand the value that letting go, finding your courage, and stepping outside your comfort zone brings to the process of coming alive to your true self. It would be an honor to journey with you in healing your hurts, learning how to handle the mess when it shows up and living a life of true fulfillment.
