Anxiety and pressure are usually held in place by patterns of thinking — anticipating the worst, replaying conversations, holding yourself to standards you'd never apply to anyone else. CBT gives us a way to catch those patterns as they happen and test whether they're actually true. This is the practical side of the work: you'll leave sessions with something concrete to try, not just insight.

Underneath the overthinking there's usually something you haven't had space to feel — resentment, grief, fear of disappointing people. Emotion-focused work slows things down enough to name what's there and understand what it's asking for. This is often where the real shifts happen in family relationships, because it moves the conversation from who's right to what each person actually needs.

I work bilingually in English and Spanish, and I don't ask clients to translate their world before we can work on it.
