About My Clients
If you look to your right, you'll see anxiety and self-doubt. If you look over to your left, you'll see the area where we concentrate on hyper-focusing and special interests. Of course, right next to that is the complete lack of focus or interest in anything. Over here is the box you were supposed to fit into and think inside of. Ahead, we can see some emotions we aren't really sure how to express, a couple of communication issues, ope! and some trauma just popped up, there. And we're working.
My Background and Approach
Human behavior is one of my favorite things to observe and explore. I took my time in school, eventually getting an Associate's in Psychology from Columbus State in 2013, a Bachelor's in Psychology from OSU in 2019, and after a couple of years of volunteer work in Disaster Recovery with the Red Cross, finished off with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2022. Some of my favorite research involved the ethics of psychological testing, and caregiver, first responder, and counselor burnout. My approach is a blend of clinical psychoeducation, mindfulness, radical acceptance, and existential/reality therapy. I don't shy away from dark humor or odd approaches to grief. My goal is to create a space for my clients to explore and express who they are, fully and authentically, working together to define their own normal and find meaning and fulfillment in every area of their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every person deserves to feel comfortable in their own brain. I believe we should all have the chance to update our character sheets without judgment. I believe that people are more than a diagnosis, and that cost should not be a barrier to receiving care. I believe that healthy relationships can look like whatever the consenting adults within them want them to look like. I believe that Bugs Bunny was the best Looney Tunes character. I believe in stepping over ants, moving spiders to a leaf, and stopping for squirrels. I believe people should focus more on supporting arts and education and less on policing other peoples' bodies and lifestyles. I believe we should do things that bring us joy, even if they're "weird" or "immature." I believe there is light, even in the dark times. I also believe that sometimes we have to make that light for ourselves. I believe that asking for help is a sign of strength and wisdom.
