About My Clients
Often times, we experience distress, but may not know what to call it or even what it is. Feeling blue or down for the past 2 weeks? Feeling lost or hopeless? Sleeping significantly more or less? These are just a few things than can occur when depressed mood is present. This can be scary and uncomfortable. Cognitive Behavioral practices have shown to be an effective approach for these feelings, and I look forward to teaching you how to use CBT techniques to work through such distress.
My Background and Approach
The helpful tools you’ll learn are evidence-based practices that have shown to effective. I have a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my main therapeutic approach is the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I have been trained through the Beck Institute on depression and CBT. My specialties include emotional distress, depression, difficulties with adjustments in life, PTSD, family issues, and anxiety. With CBT, clients discover underlying struggles and explore connection between the past and present to create an enhanced sense of self. We will work collaboratively on goal setting and understanding what you’re currently experiencing that’s causing distress. We’ll discuss how to manage the distress and apply skills that actively work toward improvement of yourself.
