About My Clients

I work with individuals living with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and isolation. I specialize in working with people employed in the helping professions who are experiencing burnout in their work, and the perfectionism, shame, and boundary issues that often emerge in helping work. I also work well with men's issues and struggles with masculinity, in particular for men who may not feel comfortable being candid with other men about their emotions.

My Background and Approach

My time working with individuals in inpatient care and with survivors of extreme relationship violence has made me especially sensitive to the ways in which systemic oppression ongoingly traumatizes the human person. I make it a priority to engage with each person’s healing in full view of the greater context of the existential threats that we face, both as individuals and as a species. I developed my therapeutic approach within an existential and phenomenological framework. This means that my work is centered on presence, embodied meaning, and relationship. I incorporate elements of Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, Focusing, and imaginal and psychodramatic techniques into my work. I tend to be playful, compassionate, and direct in session, and try to balance the inherent seriousness of the work with tender appreciation for the lightness in us all.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
