About My Clients
Does this sound like you? From the outside, you look like you have it figured out. People might describe you as Type A, perfectionistic, or high achieving. Inside, you're stressed, anxious, depressed, and stuck on old traumas. You're trying to keep it together and keep everyone happy. Yet, you long to be seen and understood. You’ve tried to figure things out on your own with books, courses, apps, diets, and thinking positively. Nothing sticks and you're ready for change.
My Background and Approach
I've worked in the mental health field for 15 years. I started my career working with youth experiencing homelessness and mental health disabilities, mainly PTSD. I've worked with youth and families in crisis and with people 5-85 in an outpatient mental health setting. My approach to therapy is relational and strength based, meaning I want to know who you are and shine a light on your strengths. I use a variety of modalities including EMDR, cognitive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, parts work, and looking at things from a systems and attachment lens. Whatever modality I use, I tailor therapy to you as an individual. I strive to help you feel seen, understood, and connected. I ask thought provoking questions to help you grow, think about new perspectives, and see yourself and your problems in a different light.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as queer and as a cisgendered female. I believe that having a therapist who understands your identity is important. I also march to the beat of my own drum and don't adhere to conventional societal expectations. I think authenticity and playfulness are an important part of the therapeutic relationship, so I try to bring this to therapy. Mental health ebbs and flows and we all have the innate capability to heal and be resilient.
