About My Clients
I work with adults living with chronic pain and chronic illness, including but not limited to POTS, EDS, fibromyalgia, chronic migraine, ME/CFS, endometriosis, CRPS. I can also work with adolescents and teenagers, with parental consent. I work with many neurodivergent adults, particularly late-diagnoses autistic and ADHD women.
My Background and Approach
I've completed hundreds of hours of continuing education on chronic pain and chronic illness. I've earned my Therapeutic Pain Specialist certification from Evidence in Motion, and continue to engage in self study as well as formal continuing education. I use a biopsychosocial approach to managing pain and chronic illness, which means that I consider you as a whole person, and no just a set of diagnoses. I've completed training in CBT for Insomnia, which is the gold standard treatment for insomnia and is very successful in improving sleep - but also reducing pain and improving mental health. As an occupational therapist, our sessions will focus on DOING - we won't just talk about making a meal plan, we will actually do it. We don't just talk about aquatic therapy, we get in the pool together. I make sure that each treatment session is tailored to you as a whole, complete and powerful individual.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Coast Guard veteran, I have a special place in my heart for helping other veterans. I believe that mental health is health, and should not be treated separately from the physical body. i believe that people have the right to know that there are non-pharmacological interventions to help manage your chronic pain and chronic illness, and that there is hope for becoming more engaged in meaningful activities.
