Childhood trauma can mean anything from physical abuse in your home, to feeling the weight of perfectionism by a parent. It is a broad term to help us understand how early experiences shape our view of the world. I will help you navigate how these events impacted you, and what you can do to tackle these issues when they show up in your life.

Relationships are at the core of who we are and how we identify in the world. When struggles appear in your relationships (infidelity, abuse, friendship breakups, etc.) I can help you process both what happened, and how you can have agency in your life moving forward. By taking a deep look at ourselves, we ultimately learn to navigate our relationships in a more authentic way.

Attachment is the word we use to describe our complex relationship with people. We form our attachments during the first six years of our life, and this is the foundation for our interactions well into adulthood. I help clients understand their unique form of attachment, and how attachment impacts someone both individually and relationally. An example of this would be helping someone understand why they shut down during conflict with her partner.

I utilize a multi theory approach to treat individuals with trauma, specific to each individual. For people with complex trauma (small events recurring over a long period of time) I help the individual process their pain, as well as understand how the experience impacted their view of the world around them. For a singular traumatic event, we will take time revisiting the event slowly, while engaging in body regulation and mindfulness to improve the nervous system.

Psychodynamic therapy is a fancy word used to describe the ways that our unconscious mind impacts our behaviors. By taking a deep dive into our childhood, we begin to understand our unconscious mind and the influence it has on both our past and our present self. The goal is to improve our self awareness so we can make healthy choices for ourselves in the future.

We use attachment theory to explore how children with disorganized, anxious, avoidant, and secure attachment styles use predictable strategies for trying to get their needs for emotional comfort and care met by their caregivers. They are malleable, meaning at any point in your life you can change your style of attachment. The goal is to understand what us to our unique attachment, and make shifts as needed to align with a more secure attachment in the future.
