About My Clients
Trapped inside a life of depression and anxiety that doesn’t seem to have any escape? You find that your energy and motivation for life has diminished. You feel isolated and alone even though you have family and friends close to you. The voice you thought you had seems as though no one really hears it. You feel as though you are being ignored. Wanting to emerge from this life of torment as an empowered hopeful person is now your priority. The question is, where do you start?
My Background and Approach
Finding hope, empowerment, and peace no longer has to feel impossible. Since I work with client's with childhood or complex trauma I take a trauma informed care approach to therapy, which means I take a gentle yet direct approach to help people process through their trauma. I believe that people who have experienced intense traumas have conflicting parts of self. Some parts are stuck in past trauma and others are ready to move on. I help my clients navigate this by helping them find ways to bring understanding to all parts of themselves to decrease the overwhelming internal conflict. I am very open with my clients on how the process of therapy will look and I allow space for my clients to have voice about what will be most helpful and affective for them. I view therapy as a relationship and I like to make sure there is open communication. In addition, I work with my clients to help them learn tools and skills to help them regulate their emotions when they return to their daily lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. As a child, I experienced a number of different traumas from my family that caused me to struggle within my relationships with others. Through my own therapy I have learned to process through these traumas and learn ways to have healthy relationships with others and I want you to also be free from these types of traumas. I believe having a nerdy side helps you to work through the struggles of the past. I don't discriminate against anyone. I make it a point to participate in marches and community actions that support the LGBTQ community. If you want to learn more about how I can help, shoot me a message.
