Katrina Severin (She/Her)

I completed my internship at a clinic which operated from an anti-colonial lens, and which served primarily immigrants and refugees, as well as various other system-impacted folks. I use an integrated multicultural, anti-oppression, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach that draws from Existential Humanism, Jungian theory, Family Systems theory, Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness. I am highly collaborative and will always treat you as the expert on yourself. I will work with you in understanding your patterns and freeing yourself from the behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs that are no longer serving you, while considering the various systems that have impacted you and various aspects of culture and identity that intersect and interact with your environment. My areas of interest include healing through breath and movement, meditation, inner child work, plant and nature therapy, and spirituality.

I believe that so much of what we call mental illness today is actually a perfectly sane and rational response to the expectations placed on us by a white-supremacist, patriarchal, capitalist, imperialist society. As each of us struggles to survive this system, we find our own ways of coping with the pressures of conformity, while our true nature is neglected and forgotten. I believe every person has a birthright to wholeness and health; in working with you, I hope to build an egalitarian, empowering alliance that centers your personally defined goals, while facilitating the unfolding of your own inherent wisdom and the reclaiming of your true self.
