About My Clients
Often, by the time women reach out, something isn't working the way it used to. You may look capable and put-together while feeling stretched thin, anxious, or stuck in patterns you can't seem to shift. I work with women navigating adult ADHD (including late diagnosis), perfectionism, burnout, motherhood, perimenopause, PMDD, and life transitions. We also make room for the mental load, invisible labor, and relationship dynamics that shape how you feel day to day.
My Background and Approach
I earned my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and am a Maryland Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I founded Bergeseen Group and offer virtual counseling to clients in Maryland, including early-morning appointments. My work draws primarily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Brainspotting. Therapy with me is steady, gentle, and paced to notice what's beneath the surface of everyday life. We look at harsh expectations, old patterns, and what you may be carrying that isn't yours to hold. Alongside that reflection, we'll develop practical ways to respond to difficult thoughts and feelings, advocate for yourself, and make choices that reflect your values. I work with anxiety, ADHD, perfectionism, burnout, and hormone-related mental health concerns, including PMDD and perimenopause. I'm currently completing supervised CYCLES training in menstrual and hormone-informed care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My path to becoming a therapist wasn't linear. I've known what it's like for the life you're living on the outside and your experience on the inside not to match—and how complicated it can be to decide what comes next. I've raised children abroad, navigated a faith transition, and returned to graduate school after nearly 20 years. Those experiences shape how I understand identity, loss, uncertainty, and starting over. I believe women deserve room to question the expectations they've inherited, including the idea that being capable means carrying everything. I'm interested in what happens when we stop measuring ourselves against harsh standards and begin to recognize the strengths and 'good enoughness' already there. My goal isn't to tell you what your life should look like. It's to help you hear yourself more clearly as you decide.
