About My Clients
Typically in individual counseling, I see folks who have had traumatic sexual relationship issues such as teenage IPV, survivorship of sexual abuse/assault (rape, incest, childhood sexual abuse, sex trafficking, child brides, sexual torture, etc.), compulsive sexual behavior/'sex addiction', and betrayal trauma. In my couples' and relationship counseling spaces, I usually serve the LGBTQIA+ community, the neurodiverse community, and folks seeking sexual reintegration therapy after trauma.
My Background and Approach
Outside of systemic achievements, I have lived experience in both trauma and privilege that positively contribute to my specialized therapeutic focus. The whole reason I became a counselor is because of my own experiences and identities as a neurodivergent, queer, gender-expansive, survivor-turned-thriver! I aim to support you in growth and reclaiming your relationship with intimacy through client-tailored, culturally-relevant, evidence-based, and relationally-focused counseling. As a counselor, I believe that my role is to be a middle person between the evolving field of psychology and a client; to provide a balance of support and accountability; to explore, brainstorm, translate, support, modify, and refine personal efforts to change, process, and grow; and to support you in growing into and loving your authentic Self. You can do this with the support you deserve!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I live by bell hooks' definition of love: "To truly love we must learn to mix various ingredients - care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, and trust, as well as honest and open communication.” I believe in love as both experience and action, and root both my personal way-of-being and my professional practice in this belief. I believe that the core of disconnection, danger, pain, and suffering in the United States is a unique blend of colonization, patriarchy, capitalism, and systemically weaponized fear. Normal responses to this context are often pathologized, and I commit to holding space for your expertise on your reality within our sessions. I firmly belief in communal solidarity, equity, co-created safety, and dismantling of oppressive systems contributing to human pain, both in and outside of session.
