About My Clients
My clients come from a diverse array of backgrounds and life circumstances, and are often seeking a fresh, tailored and empathic therapist to help them recognize and manage thoughts, feelings and behaviors which are limiting them in some capacity. From acute life stressors to more persistent maladaptive patterns, the desire for change , growth and fulfillment are underlying themes. The desire to engage in a therapeutic relationship to shift perspectives brings people to my care.
My Background and Approach
I take a truly holistic, integrative and empathic approach to my work in the therapeutic relationship. I believe that connection, meaning and growth are shared human goals, though unique circumstances can disrupt your journey. I have training as a clinical psychologist in psychodynamic/relational therapy, and believe that understanding you as a complex individual involves deep exploration in conjunction with developing a genuine relationship in the therapy. I have additional training in CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) and DBT (dialectic behavior therapy) and IPT (Interpersonal therapy), which I integrate seamlessly into the therapy. I believe that therapy is about tapping into your inner strength and potential, so that you can reach your goals in whatever way that is defined for yourself. I specialize in working with young adults, adolescents and early/middle adulthood. I am licensed in both Virginia and New York.
