About My Clients
I work with adults & teens (11+) struggling with mood disorders, depression, self-harm, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma and personality disorders. My clients also may be struggling with change/transition, stressful life events or other quality of life interfering behaviors. DBT teaches concrete & useful coping skills to replace negative behaviors with positive skills.
My Background and Approach
My speciality is helping people struggling to find balance and effective ways of coping with emotions and stress. I primarily work with teens & adults with harmful coping behaviors, personality disorders/BPD, self-harm, substance use, mood disorders, anxiety and trauma. I also have a subspecialty in perinatal mental health including during postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, pregnancy, loss and PPD in spouses. Therapy should be client-centered, non-judgmental and at your pace. The misconception that therapy is telling your 'deepest and darkest' to a stranger is far from reality and my primary goal is gaining your trust over time. I hope to inspire you to make change in your life, work towards your goals, process life events and build useful coping skills. I received my Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University in 2013 and am independently licensed in NJ, VA, MD, NC & DC. I also provide clinical supervision for pre-licensed clinicians in those states.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I wholeheartedly believe that everyone should be authentically themselves and have their own journey in finding out what that means. I am a strong ally for the LGBTQ+ community and welcome all diversity.
