About My Clients
I work best with individuals who might be outwardly functioning, but inside, feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, and stuck. You feel somehow both too much and not enough, and setting boundaries just makes you feel selfish and guilty. Maybe you had a difficult childhood, religious harm, or traumatic immigration experience. You're not 100% sure of who you are underneath all the efforts to be "okay" and get along with others, but you do know your true self is there, just beyond reach.
My Background and Approach
Therapy with me goes deeper than coping skills. Depending on where you're starting, we may begin there, but we’ll go deeper and gently work toward lasting change that honors both your strength and your pain. This is a space for healing rooted in compassion, curiosity, and connection. My style is compassionately direct, but never harsh. I use humor when appropriate and may gently challenge you to try new ways of relating to yourself or others when you are ready. Our sessions can be via telehealth (throughout WA and OR) or outdoors in nature (Seattle area). They can be in English, Spanish, or a mix of the two. My clients often express surprise at the change they experience in therapy. The constant self-doubt quiets. Beliefs like “I’m too much” or “I have to earn love” turn into “I’m allowed to take up space” and “I don’t have to perfect." Their bodies relax in new ways, and calm, joy, and clarity start showing up in ordinary moments without having to force them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I take my own self work seriously. I am a survivor of trauma myself and have been on your side of each type of therapy I use, and I have experienced profound change through them all. I've seen it in others many, many times, and it is exciting every time. I want you to thrive, even if I'm not the person to help get you there. I am fully aware that I won't be the right therapist for everyone - if we have a consultation call and either of us decides working together not what's best for you, I will do what I can to find someone who is more what you need. I am a cisgender female of primarily Irish and Swedish descent, born and raised in the Seattle area on the traditional land of the Puyallup and Muckleshoot tribes. I am bilingual in English/Spanish, lived and worked in southern Mexico and Guatemala for 8 years, and have extensive experience in working with those who have experienced immigration trauma, though I am not Latinx.
