About My Clients

My Background and Approach
My counseling perspective is existential, person-centered, and holistic, and can often incorporate an intersectional feminist perspective. I work with adolescents and adults struggling with complex trauma, depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ identity, relationships, self-esteem, shame, and life transitions. I utilize mind and body techniques to encourage healing and introspection. I believe my clients are the experts of their own lives; my role is to assist you by providing a non-judgmental space that utilizes compassion, humor, psychoeducation, guided introspection, collaboration, and somatic techniques. Trauma work is my specialty. I believe that healing trauma through the body and creating safety within oneself is the foundation of trauma work. I do not believe the end goal of therapy is "happiness." The end goal of therapy is connectedness - within one's body, mind, and spirit; through this connection is where I believe clients can find hope and internal peace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Working from an intersectional feminist perspective, I believe it is essential when working with diverse clients to acknowledge the dysfunction that may exist as a result of oppressive systems in place. My hope moving though this work is to amplify empowerment within my clients while continuing to acknowledge the larger picture and it's impact. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I strive to create an inclusive, safe space for clients of all different backgrounds and experiences. I understand how hopelessness can feel; together, we can make meaning, embrace authenticity, and find internal peace.
