About My Clients
My specialty is working with adoptive children and parents, as well as children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Parenting children who come from hard places can present unique challenges and can often be a lonely experience. Adopted children often carry the trauma or loss of their early life experiences and this can lead to some complicated feelings and behaviors. Through counseling, we work toward improving emotional health and relationships between parents and children.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been working with foster/adoptive youth and families since 2006. I have had the privilege of working with families from a variety of cultures and backgrounds and I strive to find the unique strengths of each family. I use several therapeutic approaches and will talk with you about which approach best fits your needs. I offer cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. All therapy is attachment-based and trauma informed. When counseling children and teens, we tend to have the best outcomes with active participation of the parents/caregivers.
