About My Clients
Your anxiety feels suffocating. Your intrusive thoughts are unrelenting. You're stuck in rituals and which never satisfy your worry for long. You want to freedom from OCD and anxiety but you don't know where to start. In addition to anxiety and OCD, I work with people experiencing perinatal mental health struggles including depression, bipolar, anxiety, OCD, birth trauma, and post ppp recovery. I also hold a specific tenderness for supporting clients experiencing perinatal grief and loss.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in treating obsessive compulsive disorder, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and perinatal bereavement. (The term perinatal includes the periods of trying to conceive through 2 years postpartum.) Additionally, I work with folks experiencing grief, trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and early parenting overwhelm. My style is first and foremost relational. The work of therapy centers on the relationship between client and counselor. No matter how evidence-based the treatment approach, without positive regard, trust, and a strong alliance, we won't get very far. I am genuine, warm, and curious. I am client-centered and integrate experiential approaches, ego states ("parts work"), and family systems. I add concrete skill-building into my sessions through Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), ACT, ERP, DBT, and mindfulness. When treating OCD, I am competent in applying ERP, I-CBT, and ACT. We will work together to determine which approach will fit your needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I received my graduate degree from an Evangelical Christian seminary. While I aligned with that perspective at one point in my life, I no longer see the world through that particular lens. I am open to the beliefs you hold and my goal is that you clarify and/or align with your own values rather than conform to any ideals I carry. I apply racial justice, feminist, and body liberation lenses in my work with clients.
