About My Clients
There really is no reason to face separation, divorce or a break up without the care and attention you deserve. I think divorce counseling is as valuable as marital counseling. There is a very distinct pain and loss from losing your partner and that future self you imagined. It is also so helpful for my clients to let therapy be therapy and their potential romantic relationships can be about the connection instead of repeating patterns or hurts. Pre, during, or post break up are all welcome.
My Background and Approach
You will not linger in therapy with me. It matters to me that you and I keep talking about how our sessions are actually impacting your lives for the better. I accept feedback easily and will consistently check in that we are actually making the plans, changes and progress that will set you up for the next chapter of your story. Every chapter has its place in the story and I will not just let you reread the last one without also helping you outline where the next version of you is headed. Together we can address planning an exit strategy, telling the kids about the pending divorce, setting up a new rhythm to life and dating again without the attachment or trust issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have been a social worker for 20 years and a clinician for 15 of those years. The values that dominate my practice are authenticity, knowledge and progress. Clients will be able to hear more from me in our initial 20 min free consultation. In general though, if we are a good match after chatting I will send you consents, cost expectations and simple assessments that can help us track progress. It matters to me that clients feel safe and support while also realizing their lives are more manageable, hopeful and in line with their own values. I am a child of divorce, I have experienced divorce myself and of course there has been the challenges of dating in general. I don't believe you need a therapist that has lived your life, that isn't possible. I do believe that there ways that my empathy and compassion comes from a place of knowing the hurt and imbalance that affects everyone the family.
