About My Clients
I treat clients 15 years of age and older struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic, perfectionism, general life dissatisfaction, substance use, traumatic experiences, life changes, stress management, dating, interpersonal relationships, or just “adulting”.
My Background and Approach
In my practice I strive to maintain a warm, relaxed, and supportive space and I believe in meeting the client where they are. I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Insight therapy, and Harm Reduction techniques. All of my work is informed by concepts in improv and somatic therapies. I believe each client is the expert on their own life and already possesses the ability to heal if given a safe and supportive environment. I also believe in the healing power of laughter, social support, meditation, mindfulness, and a strong therapeutic alliance. I am a LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC ally and welcome everyone to my therapeutic space.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I previously worked in community mental health, supportive housing, & emergency room settings with underserved and marginalized populations. I recognize the impact of systemic racism and that true transformation requires a systems wide approach. I believe in cultural humility and social justice and make an effort to honor these concepts in my work. I believe in living a value based life and practicing what you preach. I regularly meditate and practice mindfulness and I don't like to ask clients to try things I haven't done myself. Working as a therapist doesn't mean you are without your own things to work on. My struggles with anxiety and perfectionism led me to improv. I'm a HUGE proponent of improv and play weekly. Improv is a fun & low stakes way to practice life and its therapeutic implications are tremendous. Cats are always welcome to make an appearance in our teletherapy sessions.
