My Background and Approach
There is great value in deep listening which is why we start by centering you and understanding your experiences. As you share your story, you start your process of healing. Because I am a trauma informed therapist who understands that going too fast can be retraumatizing, we go slowly. Going slowly gives you a chance to pay attention to what is happening to your body as you share. This is called tracking sensations as they arise. Tracking the sensations that come up for you is an important part of understanding yourself and your triggers. Through the course of our work together, I guide you through this experience in session. Story telling can bring up intense feelings. When I notice that you are getting overwhelmed, I will guide us to pause so that we can resource your body. Resourcing is an important part of trauma therapy because it helps to cope with the intense feelings that come from sharing. I will teach you how to resource yourself throughout the therapy relationship.
