About My Clients
When hope is small and problems are big, therapy can provide you with a space to slow down, reconnect to what is important to you, and find a path forward. Problems keep us isolated, lost, and doubting ourselves. I work with people to find their way through issues such as trauma, PTSD, marginalization, anxiety, relationship issues, burnout, ...working towards building a life worth living.
My Background and Approach
I have been working as a therapist for over 15 years. I began working with children and families in crisis and most recently with college students. I primarily practice Narrative Therapy, focusing on meaning-making. We look at the stories we have been told about ourselves and we tell ourselves. In therapy, these stories can be rewritten, bringing you closer to your hopes and values, serving as the catalyst for change. I also incorporate somatic-based therapies and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I am trained in Trans and Queer affirming care and Culturally Sensitive therapy, where we look at the impact of race, culture, gender and other intersections of identity to help us find our way through problems that affirm who you are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that how we approach life and therefore therapy, is informed by this body we live in, how the world reacts to who we are, and the cultures that raised us. This means that conversations about racism, sexism, ableism and other forms of oppression are welcome and essential in the therapy space. It’s also important to celebrate the wonderful things about ourselves and the people we have in our lives, as this is often vital to our survival and our ability to flourish.
