About My Clients
My favorite clients are asking tough questions about themselves and their world, seeking to find meaning, joy, and growth. Maybe you're in a transitional phase, getting ready to finish college or preparing for marriage or parenthood, and seeking some additional support. If you are looking for a warm and collaborative space to process your emotions and maybe get some podcast recommendations along the way, we might be a good fit.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed professional counselor with a decade of post-graduate clinical experience. After receiving my undergraduate degrees in psychology and gender studies at the University of Virginia, I obtained my master’s degrees in psychological counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. I completed my internship at Drew University’s Counseling and Psychological Services in Madison, New Jersey. I spent three years working in the Student Counseling Service at Texas A&M University before relocating to my home state of Virginia. Currently, I am practicing at the University of Richmond’s Counseling and Psychological Services. I tailor my therapeutic approach to the individual needs of each client, grounding my use of techniques in feminist and relational-cultural theories. My goal is to create a space in which the client feels safe, accepted, and empowered to sustain positive and fulfilling relationships with both self and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we need to keep it real with one another. There are benefits to seeing the bright side and practicing gratitude, but there are also benefits to acknowledging that sometimes things are downright hard. I have a love/hate relationship with being contemplative. Social justice is important to me and I am always trying to expand my knowledge and awareness. I actively participate in DEI-related workshops and readings, and practice cultural humility. I'm often stumbling, but I strive to walk the walk.
