About My Clients
Do you find yourself replaying conversations as you try to settle down at night for sleep, wishing things had gone differently? Or maybe you noticed you and your partner keep having the same insolvable fight? Do you wake up feeling a sense of dread at what the day will bring? I help clients who are feeling disconnected, experiencing relational distress, systemic oppression or mental health struggles. I love to help clients uncover their truths, find their voice, and heal through connection.
My Background and Approach
I found the career of counseling in mid-life, after a 15 year career as a professional choreographer and modern dancer. I hold a Master's of Arts in Counseling from St. Edwards University, and an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Rice University. These life experiences guide the way I show up in the counseling room, where I combine creative, expressive and interactive ways of working alongside the insatiable curiosity and "never assume anything" stance of a true scientist. I work from an experiential therapy base- guiding us in exploring your emotions together so you can learn what these signals are trying to tell you, and figure out how to transform them into empowering insight & action that leads to lasting change and relief for everyone in therapy. After all, there must be a reason humans experience happiness, anger, sadness, fear, disgust and surprise, right?
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community in Austin, a parent, a spouse, a dancer, a gluten free baker, and a avid lover of all things nature- hiking, fossil hunting, exploring caves and foraging for native plants. I believe that kindness costs us nothing, that trans rights are human rights, and that we get to chose what things bring meaning to our lives.
