About My Clients
Many of us are just too busy to take care of ourselves: jobs, kids, etc can leave us all breathless at the end of the day. We all tend to put off things that aren't emergencies: low level anxiety, persistent sadness that just won't go away. Self care is important, it allows us not only to function better, but to feel better, to get more happiness and satistaction out of each day. My goal as a therapist is to help you find that sweet spot, where you can feel good about who you are.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed MFT in Marin County, CA. I am happy to provide HIPAA compliant teletherapy services to individuals in California. I have "unconditional, positive, regard for my clients", and it is from this place that I believe the best work in therapy can be done. I am trained in CBT, and other evidence based approaches and have a strong interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT). I believe that it is through working with your strengths that change is possible. Acceptance is not giving up, but rather acknowledging who you are and what you want within the context of reality.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Most of my professional life, and even now I work as a musician. The arts and creativity in general are very important parts of being human. I think the human spirit longs to create, in many different ways: cooking, writing, acting, music, painting, and in the sciences. While I usually do not incorporate the arts directly into my session,(I only do if it comes up organically) it does form a large part of my personal background. I also believe the mind and body want to be stable, and we have an innate ability to heal. Evedence based therapy can provide a catylst to emotional healing.
