About My Clients
Watching your teen struggle with low self-esteem, anxiety, and perfectionism can be heartbreaking. You want nothing more than to see them thrive and to feel good about themselves, but sometimes it can feel like you’re not sure how to help. That’s where I come in. Hi there! I'm Katey, a licensed therapist and recovering perfectionist who has been where your teen has been. Therapy will empower your child to be less hard on themselves and to develop healthier coping strategies for their anxiety.
My Background and Approach
The tools that I'll provide are tools that I have been perfecting over the past few years working with teens who struggle with anxiety and perfectionism. My goal for your teen is to develop coping skills and confront maladaptive beliefs while in a supportive environment. In practice, therapy sessions may begin with a cognitive-behavioral focus, where I will help your teen learn to identify and challenge negative thought patterns. As they become more adept at recognizing and reframing their thoughts, expressive arts therapy techniques can be introduced to deepen emotional exploration and self-expression. For example, your teen may use art therapy to create a visual representation of their inner critic or the pressure to excel. Throughout this process, they can uncover deeper feelings of inadequacy and work with me to challenge these beliefs and develop healthier coping strategies.
