About My Clients
I specialize in working with BIPOC folks who are at the intersection of money, means, and melanin navigate the ambiguous anxiety that’s draining the joy from their accomplishments. Additionally, I have experience with and greatly enjoy working with Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X folks experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, issues around identity, work-life balance, body image, sleep disturbances, later in life ADHD diagnosis, code switching, and relationship "bombs" (aka breakups, cheating).
My Background and Approach
During this time where AI seems to be every-damn-where, I have and will continue to operate as an AI-free therapist: Connection can't be coded™. I believe my clients (and you!) deserve better than clinical shortcuts, and resource-draining unethically-sourced half-baked mediocre therapy. My clinical training stems from over 16 years working in the public school system and in the community mental health realm. I approach therapy sessions with a more relaxed style and use a variety of techniques to inform how I support you. Some of these techniques are CBT, DBT, harm reduction, psychoeducation (aka explaining and teaching my client something about mental health and their body or brain), art, mindfulness-meditation, practical coping skills, and practical self-care (because who has time to clean the bathtub, set it all up, "relax" in it, rinse off, clean up, and then continue their day?! Be for real.)
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I named my practice after the fire poppy flower. Fire poppies are a unique and rare native California plant that are found after there’s been a wildfire. Their seeds begin to germinate after being exposed to fire and from there bloom into a brilliant fluorescent orange flower. I believe that our most challenging times don’t have to be the end of something, and that they can be a catalyst for an inner greatness that we have had dormant and forgotten about. We all have the potential to use these personal wildfires as an opportunity to not just grow, but thrive and radiate. As a Black and 1.5 gen Greek woman, I strongly believe in the power and strength of the People. I'm firmly supportive of the following Communities in alpha order: Armenian, Congolese, Haitian, NHAAPI, Neurodiverse, Palestinian, PGM (People of the Global Majority), Pro-Liberation, Queer, Sudanese, SWANA.
